NORTH STAR
INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY

Nirmala Memorial Foundation was established in 1984. Shri Thakorbhai Desai founded the Trust in fond memory of his beloved wife Late Smt. Nirmala Desai. Shri Thakorbhai Desai is a State Awardee for Best Teacher by the Government of Maharashtra. Under his Chairmanship the Trust made its humble beginning with a Gujarati medium school in the slum pockets of Khot Dongri at Malad (East.)

Within a short span of time the school gained glory by achieving 100% results at the SSC exam. Soon after that, there was no looking back for the institution. In the year 1999, Nirmala Memorial Foundation junior college of Commerce and Science started, followed by the Degree college in the year 2003. Then there were a series of colleges and courses added under the banner of Nirmala Memorial Foundation. Shri Thakorbhai Desai was ably supported by Director Smt. Aruna Desai who has always been the strongest pillar in the development of various institutions under this Trust. Today the Trust has grown from a small seed to a huge banyan tree with an English medium school, junior colleges, degree colleges with various self-financing courses, skill development courses and also a B. Ed college. The vision of providing quality education to the economically deprived children of the society has always been the main motto of the Trust. The same legacy is carried forward by the young and dynamic Chairman Dr. Denis Desai along with strong support from other Trustees. The Trustees mainly consist of great educationists who not only understand the value of education but also believe in imparting it in the right way, so that the students benefit from it which leads to their overall development. The Trust emphasises on equal importance to academics along with Co-curricular, cultural and sports activities.

The progressive, enlightened and dynamic Management has been steering the institution in the right direction all along and extending unswerving support to the committed teaching and non-teaching staff. This has resulted in the institution reaching great heights.

Jessie Vas

Jessie Vas is a teacher for over 50 years. After completing her master’s in Economics and Political Science from Mumbai University, she began her teaching career in 1964 at St. Joseph’s High School, Colaba, Mumbai. In 1971, she joined Jamnabai Narsee School, Vile Parle, Mumbai where she taught Humanities and English. From 1999 till 2009 she was the Principal of Jamnabai Narsee School, Vile Parle, Mumbai and has received the Best Teacher Award for 2003 from the former President of India Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. She is also an experienced Teacher Trainer and consults to schools on various administrative and training issues.
 

Jeevan Dcunha

Jeevan Dcunha is a trained Counselling Psychologist and a Certified Organisational Development Coach and an experienced Director of Learning and Development with a demonstrated history of working in the education management industry. He is a strong human resource professional skilled in Curriculum Development, Public Speaking, Teacher Training, Psychology, and Counselling Psychology. He has conducted scores of workshops for Principals, Teachers, Parents, and students towards this. He is now associated with creating school systems that strive to help students find their strengths, learn to excel in them, and create career paths that enable them to use their strengths to make meaningful contributions in various fields.

Dr. Yolande Pereira

Dr. Yolande Pereira has a dual doctorate in medicine and Child Centric Family Therapy. She has over 20 years of proven experience as Academic Consultant and Therapist to various schools on well-being and mental health issues. She has crafted and conducted several professional development, parenting, and academic management sessions for school communities across India and abroad. She is a strong advocate of inclusive education and has worked extensively with educators across the country to promote teacher efficacy and the creation of inclusive teaching practices.

Zeenat Bhojabhoy

Zeenat Bhojabhoy is a teacher and an academic leader for over 40 years, which include being a teacher, an administrator and the Principal of Jamnabai Narsee School. She has a Masters degree in Environmental Science-Sustainable Development and a Bachelors in Education. She is a highly enthusiastic and visionary leader. It’s this rich experience that helps her to mentor younger educators in shaping school policies, designing curricula and conducting themselves with professional grace and expertise.
